A special event organized by the Sooke Community Arts Council. New date: Sat. Sept.12 (previously advertised for Sept.13 but Whiffen Spit met with a scheduling conflict due to a triathlon event on Sept.13).

Next council meeting is at 7 pm on Mon. Sept.14, at District of Sooke Municipal Hall.

 

At the last meeting (Aug.24), Council's agenda included discussion of proposed bicycle lanes for Rhodonite Drive as well as speed limits at SunRiver Estates.   MORE

In response to an influx of requests for arena service upgrades and fitness facilities, the Sooke & Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission solicited the services of an architect to prepare concept drawings for possible renovations and additions. Surveillance of H1N1
Fight flu. Knowledge is the best defence. Wash your hands frequently.  
The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) will issue updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 pm on H1N1-associated deaths. They will issue special reports on any unusual cases or clusters. Their FluWatch report is published Fridays at 4 pm. Prepare for any stay-at-home time you or your family may require (extra food on hand, child care arrangements, work-from-home arrangements, etc).
