Event report from the O|Zone by Kel Phair |

BC Streets and Wild by Nature…..
Sooke goes away…. to be at home.

Sixty acres of Richmond was definitely the place to be at
the Olympics in 2010. So says CTV media and all the volunteers
that spent many ongoing hours (every day) welcoming the world to
our community from beyond our city.
I was lucky enough to be part of ‘We Believe’ and spend some
exciting and wonderful time with other volunteers promoting
Sooke tourism.
And thanks to Chris, Meredith, Joyce, Laura and Steve for
designing and building the Sooke to Port Renfrew exhibit at the
OZone. So many third rock visitors said it was the best of all,
best in the show.
People from all over our planet came, in huge numbers listening
to what Sooke had to say. Visitors were given exciting, heart
warming presentations on discovering the excitement and the
opportunity to visit our astonishing home on Vancouver Island.
The new website is a must-see for our world, even you! And
someone will win a magnificent vacation on May 1, 2010. Go to
www.sooke2010.com to
enter.
I hope you all got the opportunity to get over to the Olympics
and grab yourself piece of history. Even if you did not get an
opportunity to be at one of the sporting events, maybe you got
to see some of the wonderful venues.
All of Vancouver was a buzz. The world was here with everyone
getting along and sharing excitement, learning from others,
cheering, applauding, seeing and believing.
This was a mammoth move for BC and Sooke Tourism and our town of
volunteers have made a huge mark on the place to be. Well done
to all of you and thanks so much. It’s no wonder we’re the
Volunteer Capital of Canada.
We have built it and yes, they will come. We have a future.
Vancouver Olympics 2010…..It captured my heart.
