Editorial theme:  New winds ablowin'

Rolling with change

PUBLISHER's EDITORIAL - MAPLELINE MAGAZINE - Aug.-Oct.09 -  Read the full editorial in the print edition of MapleLine Magazine, released Aug.5, 2009 in Sooke, BC.

"There is no shortage of new trends and developments emerging in Sooke. Recently we’ve seen several new real estate projects get underway, the Town Centre Plan has been approved by District of Sooke Council, the All Art Show pulled off its first event, and a completed solar array installation was announced at the T’Sou-ke Nation reserve.

One can’t help but notice the speed and depth of change when new possibility is so dramatic and evident, such as Barack Obama rising from unremarkable roots to State Senator then to the US Presidency in only eight years. Equally significant is the keen worldwide response to loss, notably the passing of a supreme talent to inspire through movement, beat and lyric (Michael Jackson, 1958-2009); bared emotion (Heath Ledger, 1979-2008); and the delivery of news so succinctly that it changed political outcomes (Walter Cronkite, 1916-2009)." <Full editorial available in the print edition.>   ~ Mary P. Brooke, editor and publisher
