"We may or may not get snow this winter in Sooke, but sprinkles of cheer appear to be bubbling up everywhere around town. Office parties are being planned, families are organizing their festive dinners, and the community will have its first Sooke Spirit Festival thanks for a dedicated group of organizers under the guiding hand of Gwen Fisher.

To celebrate our second year of publication, this Holiday issue is light and festive. We are particularly pleased to feature guest editorials from Mayor Janet Evans; Sooke Harbour chamber president Gwen Fisher; outgoing Coast Guard Auxiliary Station 37 Leader George Holmes; and Sooke historian Elida Peers. This is a new 'season' in Sooke, with evidence (compared to a year ago) of a broader sense of community vision, increased business momentum, real estate development of a larger scale, and an anticipated tourism boost with the upcoming Sooke Spirit Festival. If the proposed Prestige Hotel and conference centre is realized, think of all the new visitors and business spin-off! [...]
