Contemplation: Living in Sooke

Imagine
finding the most beautiful place you've ever been to on the whole planet
and that it fits so well with so much, it makes you happy. District of
Sooke – that's what I found!
I feel a connection here to the community that I have never felt anywhere before. The taste, the smell and the feel of the air out here is amazing. Well, I love being able to walk on clouds in and on the southern tip of Vancouver Island.
Some people have said to me they were born here, moved away and they've come back HOME... never to leave! I hear this over and over. I feel as if I’m here forever.
Our community grows in a techno-communication world and this means that in western countries even in rural areas everyone or almost everyone can be communicating and not having to be alone or unaware of what’s out there. Modern world – lots of new stuff! Don’t always need new, yet knowing about it can be nice too.
Stories told about what it was like here along "Sooke Road", a long time ago. I have heard layers of the road were like this or it was like that. Impressions are that the District of Sooke was indeed rural. Go back to dirt road times and the image in my head pretty much confirms... rural, to a western concept and Old T'Sou-ke communities in a First-Nations way.
Know that from the old times right to current, the people at the heart of Sooke ... Elders of Sooke / T'Sou-ke people are welcoming people.
Grateful is how “it” feels about “itself”… everywhere. We have here a
modern rural and sub-urban community, and this makes it an incredible
ride. Recognition and respect – for OLD ways and the always need of NEW.
Imagine Southern Vancouver Island, how it looked like:
150
Years ago… “a place land and river, meet ocean and sky”. Planet
population 1.4 billion.
50
years ago... a Pacific Coastal Town. Planet population of 2 billion.
Now...
image it at 7 billion.
I think we are doing great and that being on for the ride of our lives is a great way to see it.
A community helps all of the different parts go together to make a whole lot of connections. A whole lot of what... ??
I created and use an idiom: “Walk as if Flying – Walking on Clouds”. Walk On! MM
