SOOKE, BC.  This year's Sooke Christmas Bureau launch will be held on Fri. Nov.26 at 12 noon, outside Western Foods. In addition to contributing non-perishable food items to the donation boxes at both Village Food Markets and Western Foods, donations can also be taken to drop-off boxes in various businesses in Sooke. Donations by cheque also welcome, send to: Christmas Bureau, P.O. Box 983, Sooke, B.C. V9Z 1H9; receipts for Income Tax purposes will be issued.

The bureau could use donations of clean plastic bags and shopping bags to help with distributing the food to needy families. Read full news release.

The deadline for submitting applications for receipt of Christmas hampers is Fri. Dec. 10 at 12 noon. Applications for individuals and families to receive a Christmas hamper (donation from the Sooke Christmas Bureau) are now available at these locations (and can be submitted at these locations): Sooke Food Bank in Sooke Community Hall / Thursdays 9:30 am to 3 pm); WorkLink/Sooke Works at 6625 Sooke Road; Sooke Crisis & Referral Centre, 2043 Church Rd.; and Sooke Child, Youth & Family Centre / CASA, 2145 Townsend Rd.

Anyone who is interested in helping assemble (Dec.20-21) or deliver (Dec.22) the completed hampers should contact the Christmas Bureau at 250-642-7666.   MM
